Structural crack assessment

A look at cracks that are wide, stepped, horizontal or growing, and a clear next step.

Most vertical hairline cracks are shrinkage and harmless apart from the water. Cracks wider than about 6 mm, horizontal cracks, stair-step cracks in block, or a wall that bows inward are different. On Leda clay these can mean settlement, and they need more than resin.

We measure and photograph the crack, check doors, windows and floors for movement, and tell you whether it is a sealing job or one for a structural engineer. If it needs an engineer, we can refer you to one and work to their design.

A crack monitor or pencil marks with dates are an easy way to see whether a crack is still moving before you spend money.

Send a photo of the crack and get a straight answer, usually within one business day.
